BRITISH AIRWAYS EXECUTIVE CLUB – HOUSEHOLD ACCOUNT

If you are an Executive Club member and travel on BA with your family, why not open a Household Account? The BA Household Account enables you to pool your BA Miles with up to 6 other members of your household, so that you can enjoy the membership benefits of the Executive Club collectively. Do note you can only pool together your BA Miles and NOT your Tier Points, as members of a Household Account.

  • All members applying to set up or become part of a Household Account must permanently reside at the same residential address.
  • Business addresses are not permitted for Household Accounts.
  • Family members of any age can join the Executive Club as part of a Household Account.
  • Any member of the Household Account who is aged 18 years or over, can redeem the BA Miles collected.

There is no charge to set up or make changes to a Household Account. However, you may only make one change to the account in any 6 month period. This includes adding or removing members, or changing your household address.

How can I apply for a Household Account? You, as the Head of Household must already be a member of the Executive Club, before setting up a Household Account. If you are already a member, then you can join online if you click here. Anyone is permitted to join a Household Account. Each person joining a Household Account will then automatically become a member of the Executive Club, if they are not already an existing member.

Will I be notified when my Household Account is set up? Yes, you will receive an email informing you that the Household Account has been set up. Please note: Upon enrolment into a Household Account, children receive individual membership numbers but are not automatically issued membership cards. If you would like to request a membership card for any member of your family, please call the Executive Club Service Centre.

Will under 18's move through the tiers and get Silver and Gold status? Yes, if they have earned the amount of Tier Points that makes them eligible for Silver or Gold membership, from their individual travel.

Will everyone in the Household Account have the same tier membership i.e. if I am a Gold member, does this make everyone else a Gold member? No, each individual will earn their own Tier Points every time they fly on an eligible fare. Therefore, each person will move independently through the membership tiers irrespective of the travel done by others in the account.

Do all members of a Household Account need to fly an eligible fare before joining the Executive Club? No. Only the primary account member (Head of Household) will have to meet the entry threshold into the Blue tier.

My child (who is under 18 year old) has recently flown with British Airways but was not yet a member of our Household Account. Can I claim for their flight retrospectively? Yes, once enrolled in the Household Account you may claim for their flight retrospectively. ALL new members of a Household Account may claim for BA Miles and/or Tier Points for British Airways flights flown, no more than three months prior to enrolment. No credit will be give for air partner flights flown or non-air partner transactions prior to enrolment.

Can anyone in a Household Account book redemption tickets? No, only Household Account members over the age of 18 years may redeem BA Miles - which can be done at www.ba.com. These members can book travel for themselves or any other members of the Household Account.

Please note: If you enrol in the BA Executive Club – or any other Frequent Traveller Programme for that matter – please don’t forget to let us have the details so we can update your profile.

NEWS CONCERNING AN E-JUMBO PASSPORT.

British frequent flyers now have the option of a 48-page e-passport known as the eJumbo.

Following the introduction of 32-page biometric e-passports last year, the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) felt UK travellers were in need of the extra 16 pages for visa stamps. “We are a nation of seasoned travellers, issuing more passports than any other country in the world bar the United States,” said Home Office minister Joan Ryan. “80% of the UK population now holds a passport and a record 6.6m were issued last year alone. The eJumbo will provide a popular alternative to the standard e-passport for Brits regularly travelling abroad, be it for work or pleasure.”

Please also note that, 1 June 2007, first-time adult passport customers will no longer be able to use the fast track one-week service, as the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) introduces face-to-face interviews as part of the passport application process.

Bernard Herdan, IPS Executive Director for Service Delivery, said: "If you´re planning a trip abroad this summer make sure your passport is top of the ´to do´ list and get it organised now, before you book your holiday. With identity theft on the rise, new developments are being introduced to help fight passport fraud and forgery. The interviews will be brief and straightforward, and are a simple and effective way to protect our customers´ identities, making it much harder for a fraudster to get a passport."

The interviews are for passport customers aged 16 or over and who are applying for a passport for the first time. They are being introduced along with other anti-fraud measures to help fight passport fraud and forgery, protect the UK public from identity theft, and ensure the British passport stays one of the most secure and respected in the world.

First-time adult passport customers must allow more time to get their passport: IPS recommends leaving six weeks. Customers are strongly advised against making travel arrangements until they have received their passport.

The fast track one-week service will continue to be available as usual for all other passport customers, such as for passport renewals.
